The east Asian pumpkin like fruit has been historically used for cooking purposes and also as an ingredient in many Ayurvedic medicines. The direct link of garcinia cambogia with weight loss may be open to argument, but the increasing number of authentic claims and testimonies cannot be just ignored as being fake or hoax.

Garcinia Cambogia – An Introduction. Garcinia cambogia is a small greenish yellow pumpkin like fruit with likely origins in Indonesia. The fruit has mostly been used as taste enhancer in food due to its sour taste. It has been historically used in Ayurveda as a laxative or cleanser to cure indigestion and as an ingredient in many other ‘wellness’ medicines. It was not known to the rest of the world until Dr Oz, the famous TV personality introduced it to the world in October 2012 as a potent weight loss supplement. Garcinia cambogia free trial claims have faced a lot of criticism since then. However, it is still arguably the most efficacious product in weight loss industry.

Clinical Studies on Garcinia Cambogia?

Studies have been conducted to ascertain the potential of garcinia cambogia as a weight loss additive. A study published in the Journal of American Medical Association in 1998 established that no significant weight loss was observed in the subjects being administered garcinnia as against the subjects who were given placebo. However, there are many loopholes in the study like the quantity and quality of garcinia product used as well as the use of dietary fiber, which is known to reduce the effect of garcinia.

A 2003 Japanese 4 week study conducted on mice indicates there was no connection between weight loss and garcinia. However, other physiological changes were observed in the mice. The levels of serum insulin and leptin were reduced, thereby improving glucose metabolism.

Dr Preuss conducted another 8 week study in 2004 on 30 healthy but overweight people of different age groups. The group was kept on a 2000 calories per day diet with 30 minutes of walk. One group was given garcinia product, whereas the other group was given a placebo. At the end of 8 weeks period, the placebo group had lost an average of 3 lbs, whereas on the other hand, the garcinia group lost an average 12 lbs.

In 2005 study, Dr Preuss in collaboration with some other scientists showed that garcinia increased Serotinin and reduced hunger thereby effecting weight loss. Although the studies present a mixed picture, the thousands of testimonies from a wide range of people indicate that science has to go a little further to understand the capabilities of garcinia.

Health Claims. Apart from being an excellent weight loss supplement, garcinia cambogia is also claimed to have a number of other health benefits. It helps cure diseases associated with obesity including diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, stroke and high cholesterol. Although there are no direct established links between garcinia cambogia and these disease cures, we cannot ignore the ground realities that have been ascertained by a large number of people.

Garcinia cambogia is easily the most revolutionary product in the weight loss industry. It reduces hunger, increases metabolism rate and burns the stored body fat thereby causing weight loss.
